There have been a lot of things in 2020 that seem noteworthy at the time only to become a moot point within weeks, days or even hours. Typically one of the biggest names in college football starting a petition advocating to change something would be one of those moments.
Justin Fields did just that on Sunday, tweeting out a petition for the Big Ten to reinstate the 2020 football season.

As of the time I’m writing this, the petition has already racked up more than 200,000 signatures. By the time you read this, I imagine it will be a lot more.
Again, typically something like this would make major waves. It would be the topic of every sports news show for weeks. Instead, in the age of 2020, this will likely be yet another thing that falls by the wayside.
It will, however, be interesting to see how big of waves the players do make with their voices this year and in coming years. Players from conferences across the country have been more vocal than I can ever remember and are taking stands for what they believe in.
In most cases this will result in something. This year is not most cases, but it will be very interesting to see what happens as players continue to push for changes and take up more influence.

Every Pac-12 team's conference record over the last decade
When the Pac-12 elected to follow the Big Ten's lead and punt on the 2020 fall season, the league's best chance to play this school year became a shortened season in the spring. That season would likely see the Pac-12 play a slate made up almost entirely of conference games, if they play any non-conference games at all.
