Gardner Minshew was a 6th round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. This year, he’s set to begin the season as the starting quarterback for the Jaguars.
The former WSU football legend as shown tremendous upside as a low-round pick in his short NFL career. This year, however, it looks like Minshew is tired of being the underdog, whether it’s on the field or in your fantasy football draft room.
Gardner Minshew wants to be a first round pick in fantasy football leagues across the country. And on Tuesday, he officially started his campaign to earn your pick.
I’ve been working hard to be your first pick in fantasy this year, and @BudLight is making your decision easier. When you pick me first, tweet a screenshot of your pick with #budlightminshewdraft and #sweepstakes and you could win a case worth of Bud Light! pic.twitter.com/eG1B0yyJOr

After psyching himself up (and trash talking ESPN fantasy draft analyst Matthew Berry), the Mississippi Mustache put on some WSU gear and got to work in a Karate Kid inspired training montage.
In the end, the video is part of Minshew’s partnership with Bud Light. The brewery is offering fantasy football players a chance to win a free case of beer if you select Minshew in the first round. All you have to do is tweet a picture of the pick and tweet it with the hashtags #budlightminshewdraft and #sweepstakes.
But the fun doesn’t stop there. If you win your league with Minshew as your starter, Bud Light is offering a chance at free beer for an entire football season.
It should be noted, however, that no one is actually getting sent beer. According to ESPN, the winner of that first sweepstakes will be entered into a drawing for a $20 gift card that can be used to buy a case of Bud Light. While the winner of that second sweepstakes will have the chance to win “a cash equivalent that can be used to purchase two cases of Bud Light per month for six months.”
“If there’s anything people love, I know they love free beer,” Minshew said via ESPN. “I know I’m going to try to do my part and help us win some fantasy games, but I really think the free beer should be the kicker there.”
Minshew also told ESPN that he regularly plays fantasy football and, last year, drafted himself. Let’s just say it didn’t go well.
“I had me for a few weeks last year, and I think it was the Saints game and I played bad, so I was pissed about that, and then I made myself lose on fantasy and that was just too much to take,” Minshew said. “So I don’t think I can do it anymore. Losing twice in a day is pretty much a kick in the ass.”
Listen, I don’t know much about Jacksonville Jaguar fans... But I know a thing or two about fans at Washington State and it really seems like contests involving beer and Gardner Minshew are a match made in heaven.
