Washington State’s Ron Stone Jr. and Sydney Pulver were both named winners of a Pac-12 weekly award on Monday. Stone Jr. took home the Pac-12 defensive lineman of the week for football while Pulver was named the Pac-12 defensive player of the week for soccer.
Stone Jr. earned his first award of the season after helping lead the Cougs to a 34-21 victory over Arizona State. The Cougar defense tallied five takeaways throughout the game and had three of those in the first quarter. The redshirt junior out of San Jose, California tallied six tackles, four that were solo, two for a loss, one sack, and added in a fumble recovery. He heads into the bye week second in the conference in tackles-for-loss with 10.5 on the season. He is also third on the team with 47 tackles this season.
Pulver helped lead the Cougar soccer team to their 12th shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory over Oregon on Thursday. Pulver assisted on the game winning goal in the 89th minute, the latest game winning goal since 2008. On Sunday, against Oregon State, the senior from Parker, Colorado scored the tying goal in the 89th minute in an eventual 3-2 overtime victory over the Beavers.
Pulver and the Cougar soccer team will head over the mountains on Friday to play their final game of the season against Washington. That game will be televised on Pac-12 Network at 6:00 pm.
Stone Jr. and and the rest of the football team will get the week off before heading to Oregon to take on the Ducks. It was announced Monday that kickoff for that game will be at 7:30 on ESPN on Saturday, November 13th.

For the second-consecutive week the Cougars have picked up a weekly award as super senior Sydney Pulver was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
