After a successful road trip against Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona last week, the Washington State volleyball team has once again made their way into the AVCA Top-25. Coming in at 24th, the Cougars have worked their way back into rankings for the first time this season after finishing the regular season in 2019 ranked 23rd - the Cougars did not play in 2020 due to Covid-19.

In match one of the two match series, the Cougars dropped the first set before fighting back and winning the second set 26-24 before taking the third easily. The Sun Devils came back strong in the fourth set to take it 25-23 before the Cougs pulled out a 16-14 set victory to give them the 3-2 match victory.

In match two on Saturday, the Cougs dropped the first set 25-22 before settling in and winning the next three 25-16, 25-16, and 25-19 to bring them to a 3-1 record on the season. The Cougs owned the net on Saturday with both Kalyah Williams and Magda Jehlarova tallying 7 blocks each. Jehlarova added two aces and 11 kills while Williams added another 12 kills of her own.

Washington State will host #18 UCLA for a two match series beginning on Thursday at 6:00 pm followed by another Saturday match at 11:00 am. The Bruins are sitting at 3-1 on the season and are coming off a 3-0 loss to Oregon last week. Prior to that loss, the Bruins had won all but two of their 11 sets, dropping one set each to Oregon and California prior.
