If you are a fan of WSU sports and winning, you likely had a very good Sunday. Several Cougar teams were in action to close out February and there wasn’t a loss to be found.
Starting on the basketball court, the WSU women’s basketball team surged past Washington to end the regular season, as Craig noted in the recap. The Cougs will head into the Pac-12 Tournament with an NCAA Tournament berth in their sights as they continue one of the better seasons in program history.
A Strong Finish to an Unique Season!!!

Over on the baseball field, the Cougar baseball team continued to score runs in bunches. The Cougs won 10-3 on Sunday, securing a four-game sweep against Dixie State. The Cougs sit at 7-1 on the season and are off to the best start since 2010. This was also their first four-game road series sweep since 1993. And first road series sweep of any kind since 2006. The Cougars didn’t just escape with a narrow road sweep either. They pummeled Dixie State 50-12 over four games. You know the offense is on fire when they score 10 runs in a game and it’s only the third highest-run total of the four-game series.
COUGS WIN! It's a 4-game road sweep!

On the volleyball court, the Cougs made quick work on Cal, posting a 25-16, 25-13, and 25-21 victory. The No. 17 Cougs also swept Cal on Friday, making it a perfect weekend. WSU improved to 8-2 on the season and will take on USC next.

Finally, the No. 15 women’s soccer team capped the weekend with a 2-0 victory against Utah. The Cougs played to a tie against Utah on Friday, despite clearly being the better team. They left no doubt on the scoreboard this time around with senior Elyse Bennett scoring a pair of goals in the first 15 minutes of action to put the game away. The game against the Utes was technically a non-conference contest so the Cougs improve to 4-0-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in Pac-12 play.

And because that wasn’t enough for the day, sophomore golfer Yuya Eguchi aced a Par-3 during a qualifying round.
