It was a year of firsts for the WSU women’s basketball team, and you can add another: For the first time ever, the Cougs have a player named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-American team.
Charlisse Leger-Walker, the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, was named honorable mention All-American. Leger-Walker is one of five from the Pac-12 named to an All-American team.
Leger-Walker had a phenomenal freshman season on the Palouse. She became the first freshman to lead the league in points with 452. She was named Pac-12 Freshman of the week five times, which is also a league record.
She helped WSU to its first NCAA Tournament in 30 years and gave fans a glimpse of what’s possible with this team down the road. She scored 17 points in an overtime win on Jan. 10 against Arizona. Why bring that up? Because the Wildcats just clinched a spot in the women’s title game.
Good things are ahead for WSU women’s basketball.
Not the best Friday for soccer and baseball

Meanwhile, baseball was at home on a lovely day in Pullman to play the second game of a three-game series against Stanford. The Cougs took a 5-4 lead into the ninth, but, welp:

That’s six in a row for WSU. I liked it better when we were playing the likes of Dixie State and Seattle U.
