Another weekend of Coug baseball is about to begin!

Good morning, Coug fans! After some exciting basketball news that I’m sure you’ve heard by now (in case you haven’t, it’s here!!) it’s time to take a look at this weekend for our favorite baseball team, you know ‘em, you love ‘em, the Washington State Cougars. We host UCLA, starting today at 6:05pm on the WSU Live Stream, which you can find right here.

Let’s get things started, shall we?

UCLA lists three pitchers in their starting rotation, the first being Zach Pettway. Pettway has 51 innings pitched, a season high of 11 strikeouts against Utah, and he’s got a win-loss stat of 1-3.

Sean Mullen is next on the list with a season high of 10 strikeouts against Cal State Fullerton, 55 innings pitched, and has an 8-1 games won/lost.

UCLA also lists Jesse Bergin- who has the lowest stats of the three. He’s pitched 53.2 innings, 9 strikeouts against Utah, and has a 4-3 win/lost.

The Bruins come in at No. 16 with a 25-14 record, 12-9 in the Pac 12. The last time these two teams met, UCLA took the sweep ending with a 10-13 score, UCLA on top. With the rising success of our own WSU Cougs, I’m anticipating a great weekend. Kyle Manzardo was named a Preseason All-American third team honor, and Zane Mills nabbed his second Pac-12 pitcher of the week title!

All incredibly exciting stuff! I hope everyone settles in for a great weekend of Washington State sports!
