It’s been a good offseason for Washington State first baseman Kyle Manzardo, who has previously claimed All-Conference and All-American honors. Manzardo can add another accolade to his resume as he was recently named a Third-Team 2021 ABCA/Rawlings All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Although it seems like it’s been a busy summer for Manzardo, this is only the tip of the iceberg. We are now less than a month away from the start of the 2021 MLB Draft on July 11 and Manzardo will almost certainly hear his name called in the early going.
The 2021 MLB Draft will be 20 rounds. That’s a decrease from the typical 40 rounds, but significantly more than the five-round draft last year. Manzardo figures to come off the board in the first half of the draft at least. Various projections have him going anywhere from as high as the second round to closer to the 10th round. The SB Nation Miami Marlins blog has Manzardo taking his talents to South Beach in the fifth round.
Regardless of where he goes, a professional contract will certainly come Manzardo’s way later this year to go along with all of his All-American honors.
