Good morning, Coug fans!
I hope everyone has their raincoats on, and are armed with a sunny attitude for another weekend of Cougar sports! Soccer started the weekend off with a bang against Denver last night, and got the W 2-0 — let’s take a look!
Fun fact: the Cougs have yet to lose on the road this season. Your Washington State Cougars nabbed two goals, the first from Sydney Pulver, pictured below.

Pulver had 3 shots, 2 on goal, and 1 that made it in. WSU in total took 9 shots in the first half, 5 in the second, for 14 total, 7 of which were on goal. Something we’re seeing consistently from the Cougs is dominant numbers; despite the occasional mistake that allows their opponent to take charge, soccer continually pushes their opponents to the edge.
For example: Denver went into this game with a 4-1-0 record at home. Washington State wound up outshooting Denver by nearly twice their numbers in terms of offense, which obviously led Denver to doubling their saves, which would make sense in proportion to the Washington State offense doubling any attempt.
The second half opened an opportunity for Enzi Broussard, another player who has been putting up regular and impressive numbers!

This was the lowest playing time Broussard got all season, she usually averages around 40 minutes a game, sometimes closer to 50, which is a difference from last night’s 33 minutes. However, she made those 33 minutes count with 3 shots on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Nadia Cooper had a strong game as well — her second consecutive shutout to start her career — and is on the way to establishing herself as the entrenched starter.
Elyse Bennett continued to act as a Jack of All Trades with 2 shots, one of which was on goal, and an assist during her 57 minutes of gameplay.
Overall, the Cougs put on another great show!
Washington State continues their nonconference Colorado tour with Northern Colorado on Sunday! It’s unclear whether a stream will be available, so make sure to follow Washington State Soccer (found @WSUCougarSoccer ) for all the best updates!
Side note- I will be in Pullman this weekend! I’d love to say hi! Go Cougs!!!

USC (-8.5) at Washington State
It’s time to see if the interim coach bounce is real for USC. I think it is — Washington State is a mess. The Cougars lost at home to Utah State, and it’s fair to wonder just how much of a distraction Nick Rolovich’s vaccine hesitancy has been.

Washington State under Nick Rolovich is only 1-5 against the spread. Even dating back to coach Mike Leach, the Cougars are 4-14 over their last 18 contests.
Pac-12 Football Predictions: Week 3 | Yardbarker
Teams that have fired their coach two games into a season are 0-8 in their next contest, so while USC certainly boasts more talent than Washington State, that trend seems difficult to buck.
