You can finally formalize your viewing plans for the 2017 Apple Cup: This year’s rivalry game between the Washington State Cougars and Washington Huskies will kick off at 5 p.m. PT on FOX this Saturday, according to Jon Wilner of the San Jose Mercury News.
This means the Cougs will have a massive national audience to make a statement: With a victory, WSU would win the Pac-12 North and advance to the Pac-12 Championship Game for a rematch with USC.
Washington’s game against Utah has not yet ended, but we already know the Apple Cup won’t be as high stakes as many imagined; the Huskies were eliminated from contention in the Pac-12 North when Stanford defeated Cal in the Big Game.
Stanford — which, again, eliminated Washington from contention in the Pac-12 North with its win over Cal in the Big Game — will face Notre Dame in the other 5 p.m. slot on ABC.
The Cougs will be coming off a bye week before traveling over the mountains to take on the Huskies, who are mathematically eliminated from winning the Pac-12 North.
