WSU vs. Rutgers football game thread

The Cougs open up against the Scarlet Knights. Discuss the action here!

Otto Greule Jr

The Washington State Cougars face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Thursday at CenturyLink Field in Seattle (7 p.m. PT, FS1) and that means one very important thing: The return of CougCenter game threads.

This is the place to discuss all the action as it unfolds. Celebrate every Connor Halliday pass completion, every Darryl Monroe tackle and every Popcorn Guy popcorn thing here.

WSU comes into the game as 8-point favorites with many expecting the Cougs' Air Raid offense to shred Rutgers' tattered secondary. It will be up to an inexperienced Wazzu offensive line to provide at least the minimum level of protection, because if they do there should be plenty of Cougar receivers running free.

On the other side of the ball, Rutgers will likely rely on a solid running game to slow down WSU. But don't sleep on the Scarlet Knights' passing attack--the WSU secondary is far from proven and may feature a safety that converted from running back just weeks ago.

With that being said, points are likely to be in order tonight. It should be an entertaining start to the season, even if there will be a less-than-half full stadium to see it. That also means there should be plenty of folks watching at home, and plenty of folks to populate the gamethread!
