+

The Washington State team, playing away from home, has shown remarkable resilience. They've quickly taken the lead with a score of 33-27 over Boise State. This performance is particularly noteworthy considering the added motivation Washington State has, stemming from their previous loss to Boise State. It remains to be seen whether Washington State can turn the tables this time, or if the outcome will mirror their last encounter.

Oregon State and Washington State are working on an affiliate agreement with the West Coast Conference for men’s and women’s basketball as well as other sports, sources tell Yahoo Sports. The working agreement has not been finalized but is expected this week, barring any unforeseen hurdles. Under the agreement, selected Beavers and Cougars athletic teams, most notably the basketball squads, will compete in the WCC as affiliate members. Their games will count toward the league standings, and they will compete in conference tournaments with the possibility of winning the event and claiming the league’s automatic qualifying spot in the NCAA basketball tournaments, as well as other NCAA championships.

Oregon State, Washington State near agreement to join West Coast Conference as affiliate members, sources say

+

Oregon State and Washington State are nearing an agreement to join the West Coast Conference as affiliate members next year in multiple sports, most notably men's and women's basketball, sources told ESPN, confirming multiple reports. It is an agreement similar to the one the schools reached with the Mountain West to play six football games against MW teams next year but with a major difference. While the Beavers' and Cougars' games against MW schools in football will not count toward the conference standings, there is an expectation their games will count toward the standings for other sports in the WCC. They are also expected to be eligible to participate in conference tournaments and eligible to represent the WCC in NCAA championship events.

In their 42-39 defeat against Cal, WSU nearly managed to erase an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter

In their 42-39 defeat against Cal, WSU nearly managed to erase an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter. However, their hopes were dashed when kicker Dean Janikowski missed a crucial 48-yard field goal attempt that could have tied the game. Quarterback Cam Ward played a pivotal role in the Cougars' comeback attempt, completing 35 of 60 passes for three touchdowns. Unfortunately, he also threw one interception, which happened to be a Hail Mary attempt at the buzzer. Ward's performance was a mixed bag, as he contributed to the rally but also had three fumbles. Two of those fumbles were returned for touchdowns by the Golden Bears. The first occurred in the first quarter when he lost the ball on a QB sneak, and the second happened in the fourth quarter when Ward was stripped while attempting a pass.

Significant 2023 rule changes in National Federation High School Football Changes for 2023

Changes definition of "out of bounds" player. Previously, an out of bounds player was only a player actually touching something out of bounds (other than another of the 21 players in the game or game official). Thus, a player who jumped airborne, even if from many yards out of bounds, was technically "in bounds" while airborne and his touching of a loose ball did not kill the play. Now, an out of bounds player remains "out of bounds" even if airborne, until he re-establishes himself as inbounds by being grounded solely inbounds.
