This always is the great conundrum for NFL teams, and teams can never go off college production alone. (Hey there, Tim Ruskell!) But I like the tone of this Grantland piece by Matt Hinton, which looks at when it makes sense to perhaps put aside potential and maybe go for a guy whose upside is a bit lower, but the risk also is lower, too.
