Grant Porter given Life Saving medal by Pullman City Council

How cool is this? WSU defensive back Grant Porter, who came upon a man in a park attempting to hang himself and helped to convince him to not go through with it, was honored last night by Pullman City Council with the Life Saving medal -- the same one given to officers who do the same. Normally, a team that finishes 12-19 overall and 6-12 in the Pac-12 isn't selected for this type of tournament, but the WNIT has a quirk: It has to select the next highest Pac-12 team not selected for the NCAA tournament. This year, that was the Cougs, who tied with Cal (selected for the tournament) for 7th place. Hooray! WSU will play BYU in Provo, Utah, on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT.
