Derrick Low. Kyle Weaver. Robbie Cowgill. Daven Harmeling. Ivory Clark. Tony Bennett. All names that would become legendary for Cougs everywhere thanks to the 2006-2007 men’s basketball season. So it seemed only natural for The CougCenter Hour to give that year the MegaCast treatment it deserves.

Myself, Craig Powers, Kevin Dudley, Zane Murfitt and Mark Sandritter all sit down and Zoom up to chat about the season that helped transform so many Cougs fans into rabid crimson and gray supporters and led to the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in more than a decade. We relive every gigantic win (two court storms!) and the gut wrenching losses of the first great Bennett season on the Palouse.

Once of the most dramatic wins for the Washington State Cougars in the Mike Leach era set a tone in a year where that tone was of the utmost importance. A late Josh Rosen scramble into the endzone in the UCLA Bruins’ tilt with the Cougs in 2015 meant Wazzu had to score fast. Then, perhaps the most iconic moment for a legendary WSU receiver, Gabe Marks, hauling in the game winning touchdown in his home town.

This football game was a weird one. Weird because two pretty decent offenses looked completely inept. Weirder because the Washington State Cougars beat the USC Trojans. Weirder still because it happened at the Coliseum. Weirdest of all because Damante Horton had the game of his life.

In Part IV of our quarantine series looking back at the events we hold most dear in WSU history, Craig Powers joins us to talk about the 2013 tilt between the Cougs and Trojans. Two different USC quarterbacks would throw picks to Horton, who score the only touchdown Wazzu had on the day but it was enough to help win the game.

Though the 2018 football season is fresh in the memories of all Washington State Cougars fans, it remains a close second to the greatest season in school history. That title, without a doubt, belongs to the 1997 team and their first trip to the Rose Bowl in nearly seven decades.

To relive this incredible season though, we needed the help of the people who were actually there and in school as Wazzu ripped off a dream season. Seeing as though I was nine-years old at the time, I’m hardly qualified. The good news is, our roster here at CougCenter very much is.

Jeff Nusser, Kyle Sherwood, PJ Kendall, and Scott Cresswell all donated their time generously to the podcast to relive this dream year. In Part I, we remember the first ten games of the season just before the biggest pair of football games in school history.

College Gameday. A top-25 game. The Oregon Ducks. The Washington State Cougars.

What a damn Saturday on the Palouse.

In our continuing series while sports are out of commission, we want to remember some of the better times in Washington State sports. This time, our own PJ Kendall joins us to talk about a game he came an awful long way for: WSU’s 2018 win over Oregon. It was the fourth straight time the Cougs had topped the Ducks, this one in perhaps the most dramatic fashion (and that’s saying something after 2015.)

As we continue this series, is there any other event you’d like us to go over? Any particular game you want to relive? Let us know in the comments.
