At the under four minute media timeout near the end of the first half, WSU was tied 27-27 with Stanford. Stanford then went on a 51-19 run. Unfortunately for WSU, Dominic Ballard's layup with 2:48 to go was not enough to spark the comeback.
Getting outscored 53-21 over a 24-minute span after playing a team even for the first 16 minutes is almost impressive. The problems for WSU came when Que Johnson was forced to sit in the first half after picking up his second foul. On the bright side, Johnson continues to prove he can score at this level and finished with 21 points. Here is your positive for the day:

Losing to Colorado State is bad under any circumstances, but the way the Cougs wilted at the end was horrid and should operate as fuel to motivate the team this offseason. Still, despite losing their final two games and finishing with a losing record, getting back to a bowl game was a big deal in the second season under Mike Leach.
