The WSU men’s basketball program continued its conference woes this past weekend with double digit losses to the Utah Utes (71-56) and Colorado Buffaloes (70-59). Falling to 2-6 in conference play, the Cougars have lost five straight and currently stand at 9th in the conference standings.
On a lighter note, WSU’s young core continues to show improvement, with freshman center Dishon Jackson being the latest breakout player who seems to have found his role on this 2021 squad. Jackson scored 10 points against Colorado, his second game with double digit points in the past three contests (USC, 14). The Cougs now have three freshman and a sophomore in their starting lineup, and with Isaac Bonton eligible to return in 2021, there is reason for optimism in the near future.
Kyle Smith and Co. will now travel to Boulder to play the Buffaloes for the second time in four days, then return to the Evergreen state for a matchup against rival Washington in Seattle on Sunday.
