Hot Cougar Action: WSU has one midseason All-American, can you guess who it is?

WSU has one player on Phil Steele's midseason All-American list, although it may not be who you think.

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

In his preseason All-American projections, Phil Steele pegged Marquess Wilson as a first-team All-American. Steele released his midseason All-American list and WSU still has one first-teamer, although it might not be who you think.

No, it's not Wilson. He's fallen from first team All-American to not being listed in the top 12 receivers. I know what you're thinking, "If it's not Wilson, it must be Travis Long. He leads the country in sacks!" Nope, wrong again. Despite his sack prowess, Long did not crack Steele's top 16 linebackers.

With no Wilson and no Long, finding an All-American candidate on WSU's roster appears to be a bit of a challenge. Well, let's just say Steele's midseason All-Americans are especially Furnalicious. That's right, Andrew Furney was tabbed as the first-team kicker on Steele's midseason All-American list. Take that Caleb Sturgis, Brett Baer and Chris Boswell, you don't have anything on Furney Furn.

Apparently the Pac-12 has special teams on lockdown as UCLA punter Jeff Locke took home first-team honors as well.
