WSU has a big recruiting weekend on tap, but the Cougars may have landed their biggest commitment for next season on Friday. Wide receiver Vince Mayle's waiver for another year of eligibility was approved by the NCAA. The man himself broke the news.
MY WAIVER WAS PASSED I WILL BE PLAYING NEXT YEAR!!!

Mike Leach has said a few times he expected Mayle's waiver to get approved, but when it comes to the NCAA you can never be too sure. Mayle's situation was complicated due to playing some junior college basketball a few years ago. It started his eligibility clock, then he took some time off before taking up football.
Outside of Utah forfeiting tomorrow's game and giving WSU the win, this is about the best possible news WSU could get today. Mayle has shown flashes of being an absolute monster of a wide receiver. He has all of the physical tools to be great and is full of untapped potential. WSU will get another season to attempt to tap into that potential and that could mean very big things for the 2014 team.
With Mayle now in the fold for next season, every wide receiver who has caught a ball this season will return next year. That is not very good news for for opposing defensive backs, especially those who will be tasked with covering the 6-3, 240-pound Mayle after he has a year in the system and has gone through an offseason conditioning program. Good luck with that, 2014 opponents.
