Checking in on some former Cougs

With WSU's second bye week in three weeks, there isn't much Cougar football news floating around the Internet today. Although the Cougars won't be playing this Saturday, a few players who used to wear a WSU jersey will.

I did some Google searching to check to see how some former Cougars were faring with their new teams. I wouldn't consider this a definitive list as I could have missed a player or two.

C.J. Mizell

Mizell didn't play football last season and instead attended Tallahassee Community College. He landed at Akron and has played in six of the Zips' 10 games. He has 24 tackles on the season with 2.0 sacks. He hasn't played in the last four games, apparently due to an injury.

Jamal Atofau and Andre Barrington

Hey remember them? The two were arrested in a marijuana bust back in 2010. They both landed at Virginia University of Lynchburg and were somehow listed as sophomore's on the 2012 roster. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure sure the VUL football team still exists. I do know the team played two games this season. The school's football website hasn't been updated since April and the team may-or-may not have changed coaches. The conference lists VUL playing two games while most of the others have played eight or nine. Atofau and Barrington were listed on the participation report for one of the games.

This post sent me down a very weird Virginia University of Lynchburg rabbit hole. Moving on ...

Brandon Golden

The cornerback came to WSU highly-touted because he also had an offer from Colorado and back then recruits with other BCS offers were a big deal. Golden didn't play much for the Cougars and transferred following last season. He landed at Idaho State where he's played in five games this season, racking up 10 tackles.

Jordan Pu'u-Robinson

The former defensive end transferred to Hawaii where he played in two games last season due to a hand injury. He moved to tight end this season and has appeared in two games. He has two catches for 19 yards. He reportedly suffered a MCL injury earlier in the season. Robinson is a senior, but was granted a medical hardship waiver and will have a sixth year of eligibility next season.

Blair Bomber

Bomber transferred to Eastern and has appeared in all nine games this season. He has five catches for 79 yards and a touchdown. He caught three passes for 66 yards in the season opener against Oregon State, including a 47-yard touchdown.

Jake Rodgers

Rodgers also transferred to Eastern and is a backup offensive lineman. He's played in four games this season and is listed as the No. 2 right tackle on the depth chart.

I searched, but didn't find updates on Spencer Waseem, Ray Ford, Henry Eaddy, Ian Knight, Niu Sale and Rahmel Dockery. It's possible they are taking a year off before landing somewhere or it's possible they are no longer playing college football. And of course it's possible I just didn't find any information.

So there you have it.

Football:

Pac-12 football weekend rewind: Week 10 - ESPN
rizona State QB Taylor Kelly accounted for seven touchdowns in the Sun Devils' 55-21 blowout win at Washington State, earning a 95.4 QBR for the performance. He completed 22 of 31 passes for 275 yards with five TDs and one interception. He also rushed for 66 yards on 13 carries with two TDs.

Basketball:

Tipoff Set for WSU’s Game Against Lamar - Washington State University Official Athletic Site
