The college football regular season is in the books, so now there is nothing to do but wait. Fortunately, WSU won't have to wait much longer to learn its bowl fate with the BCS Bowl Selection show scheduled for Sunday night. The show will air on ESPN at 5:30 p.m. PT, but there is a chance the Cougars will know where they are headed before then.
With the conference championship games complete, six of the 10 BCS spots have been locked up. Auburn is in the National Championship game, so Alabama likely moves into the Sugar Bowl slot. Ohio State won't play for the title now, but the Buckeyes are likely to be chosen as an at large in the Orange Bowl. That leaves two at large spots remaining.
Most projections have Clemson in the Orange bowl, leaving just one other spot. The general consensus appears to be either Oklahoma or Oregon will be picked to play Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. If the Ducks are selected, WSU has a chance to play in the Fight Hunger Bowl and at worst would likely land in the New Mexico Bowl. If the Sooners get the nod, we'll have to wait and see what happens.
There is a chance some announcements will come before the selection show and if not, things should get in order not long after.
In non-bowl related news, the WSU men's basketball team pulled off a 67-66 win against Idaho. The game wasn't on TV outside of Eastern Washington, but Kyle Sherwood watched an online stream so let's use his Tweets to recap the action.
