The season opener is rapidly approaching and while we don't know how the Cougars will fare against Auburn, we do know they've had some good moments in season openers. WSU has been up-and-down in recent seasons and is 11-12 in season openers since 1990, with a few notable wins.
WSU is 3-6 in the Week 1 since my first year as a student, so I don't have great many great memories of season-openers. Two of those victories -- a 21-17 win over New Mexico and the win against Idaho State where Jeff Tuel was injured -- weren't exactly perfect beginnings.
Almost by default my favorite moment is a season-opener came in 2005 against Idaho. Kyle Sherwood detailed that game and the performance by Jerome Harrison. There was also this, which added to the fun.
I failed on a high five on that first TD and gave my friend a black eye.
It was worth it.
What is your favorite memory/moment from a WSU season opener?
