The Washington State Cougars look to finally play their third game of the 2020 season when they face the USC Trojans in Los Angeles on Sunday (4:30 pm PT, FS1). The Cougars and Trojans last met in 2018, with USC grabbing a controversial win.
At No. 20, USC is the highest rated Pac-12 team in the College Football Playoff rankings. The other two ranked teams coming into this week, Oregon and Washington, both fell on Saturday. The Trojans and surprising Colorado are the only two undefeated teams left in the league, making this a very important game for USC if it wants a shot at the Pac-12 South title. USC and Colorado will not play this season after that game was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns in the Trojans program.
It’s funny to think, as the Cougs have barely played this season, but WSU has a path to the Pac-12 North title if it can beat USC on Sunday. If Wazzu finishes 3-1, and Oregon beats Washington, that would leave Nick Rolovich’s squad as the only one-loss team in the division. A lot of work to do with two tough match-ups to finish the season, but hey, something for which to play.
