Linebacker Chandler Leniu of St. John Bosco High School in Lakewood, Calif., committed to Washington State on Thursday night according to multiple media outlets. It appears Cougfan.com's Braulio Perez was first with the news. He chose the Cougs over offers from Iowa State, Kansas, TCU and slew of midmajors.

Leniu is a consensus three-star recruit and is the 25th ranked inside linebacker in the country and 53rd ranked player in California according to 247sports.com's composite rating, which combines the four major scouting services. Of the four services, Scout and Rivals are the highest on him, ranking him as the 18th best nationally at his position.

It appears WSU had been in the lead with Leniu for a while, but a visit over last weekend to the homecoming game against Idaho sealed the deal for him.

"That visit helped me a lot to make my decision," Leniu told Adam Gorney of Rivals.com ($). "I was really going to commit there before I went but it helped me boost that decision to commit there right away after my visit. I just felt the atmosphere and the connection between the coaches and me."

Leniu's measurables are between 6-foot and 6-1 and 216 pounds and 230 pounds. He's the third linebacker to commit to this class, joining Greg Hurd and Frank Luvu, but he's the first inside linebacker.
