WSU football recruiting: 4-star LB Kyahva Tezino decommits

Another departure in the days leading up to signing day.

Four-star linebacker Kyahva Tezino decommitted from WSU on Monday and it doesn't appear the Cougars are still a contender. According to a report from 24/7 Sports, Tezino's high school coach said the linebacker will sign with Kansas, San Diego State, California or UCLA.

Tezino committed to WSU on Dec. 16, not long after taking an official visit to Pullman. While he remained a verbal commitment, he also kept his options open. He recently took an official visit to San Diego State. If the 24/7 Sports report is accurate, WSU is no longer in the running for the 4-star prospect.

The loss is the latest in a string of recent decommitments and flipped verbals. WSU has been reeling a bit in recent weeks and losing Tezino -- one of the more highly-touted commitments -- doesn't help. Tezino is from Southern California and Dennis Simmons was his primary recruiter. If you believe the recent report that Simmons may be headed to Oklahoma, you can connect a dot here. That, however, is pure speculation on my part. It does seem odd that WSU would be dropped completely out of the running without some sort of major change.

Either way, WSU has another open spot in the 2015 class and is running out of time to fill it.
