Football commitments sometimes come in bunches, but I'm not sure we've seen anything like what happened on Thursday night when WSU picked up three verbal commitments in roughly an hour. First 2017 DB prospect Tayari Venable committed then WR Grant Porter pledged Crimson before DB Skyler Thomas joined him in the 2016 class not long later.
The WSU football twitter account had a hard time keeping up with all the verbals.

It is indeed a very great day. This isn't a case of adding quantity over quality either. Porter and Venable are both listed as 3-star prospects according to Rivals.com. Thomas has not been rated by Rivals yet, but chose WSU over offers from Nevada, Hawaii, UNLV and others. All three players are from California as the staff continues to focus the recruiting efforts on California. The verbal commitments also come not long after WSU held a series of camps in California.
Porter has the most impressive offer list of the bunch with reported offers from Boise State, San Diego State and Utah among a handful of others. At 6-foot-2 and 184 pounds, he looks to be a future outside receiver for the Cougars. Venable is a 2017 prospect, so he'll have to wait 20 months before he can sign with WSU.
Here are highlights for all three players.
