3-star tackle Cade Beresford commits to WSU

The Washington State Cougars picked up the 15th known verbal commit in their 2018 class last night when three-star offensive tackle Cade Beresford announced via Twitter that he intended to join the Cougs.

Beresford, from Woodinville, also held offers from Nebraska, UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, Arizona State and a slew of midmajors. He’s the 8th-ranked prospect in the state of Washington.

If there was a dictionary definition of “Mike Leach offensive line recruit,” Beresford would fit the description. He’s tall — 6-foot-7 — and though he weighs only 250 pounds, a couple of offseasons with Jason Loscalzo will fix that. He only recently converted to offensive line after spending most of his time focusing on basketball, so one would presume he’s already got pretty good feet.

You’ll remember the last offensive lineman to come from Woodinville was a guy named Andre Dillard, who was 6-5/240 when he signed with the Cougs. That worked out pretty great for everyone involved, I think.

Here are his highlights from his first three games this year. They are ... impressive. I don’t know how great the Kingco 4A competition is, but I know that one of the teams involved here is Bothell, a team ranked in the top 10 in the state. For a guy so tall, he seems to play low and possess a powerful upper body.
