The Cougars rode the arm of new quarterback Luke Falk to an upset of Oregon State two weeks ago, sending them to their bye week on a high note. But that same Oregon State team stunned the Sun Devils last week and all but eliminated them from the College Football Playoff picture.
While WSU has little more to play for than pride and building toward 2015 -- they've already been eliminated from bowl contention -- ASU still has a shot at winning the Pac-12 South title and advancing to the Pac-12 Championship Game. Add to that the fact that WSU has rarely played well in Tempe (WSU hasn't won there since 2001 and ASU has won the five games between them since by an average of 44-13), and this is a big uphill battle for the Cougars.
