The Washington State Cougars head south to face the No. 18 Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday. The Cougs are looking to bounce back from two consecutive losses while ASU hopes to build on another big win.
WSU was thoroughly crushed two weeks ago in Salt Lake City. Utah limited the Cougs’ offense and shredded their defense on the way to a decisive 38-13 win. That culminated in the departure of WSU defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys during the bye week.
The Cougs have since made some changes to defensive personnel, but it remains to be seen if that will have much impact on a side that has struggled mightily in its first two conference games. WSU’s offense is hoping to show its worth after a challenging night against the Utes.
Arizona State is riding high after a win over previously undefeated Cal last weekend. Couple that with ASU’s defeat of Michigan State earlier this season, and the Sun Devils have a pair of impressive road wins that rival any team in the conference.
However, the last time ASU got a big road win, it came home to lose to Colorado. Could the same fate be in the cards today?
