At approximately 7 p.m., the WSU Cougars and the No. 2 Oregon Ducks will commence a football game, which is scheduled to be broadcast on your television on the channel "Fox Sports 1." Most people are expecting that moment to be the closest the score will be for the remainder of the game.
Perhaps so. But since they're going to play the game anyway, why not watch and hope?
I did write something earlier today about how the Cougars might be able to hang around and make this a game into the fourth quarter:
One way -- perhaps the best way -- to increase the probability of an improbable result is to employ a high variance strategy. The gist is this: Take a lot of big risks in the hope that a large majority of them pay off to have your team in the game at the end.
Here's to hoping Mike Leach was reading. And if he wasn't, well, at least the vast majority of the country will be asleep for the beatdown.
Go Cougs!
