WSU vs. Oregon football game thread

This is the place to discuss WSU vs. Oregon. There are no other places, the rest of the internet is shut down. Don't look. just trust me.

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington State Cougars host the Oregon Ducks on Saturday night in Martin Stadium, and if you aren't there you probably want someone to hang out with. Those someones are here, in the CougCenter game thread.

It's been a long time since the Cougars beat the Ducks. I was still in school and this website was two years from existing. I remember the day well. We rushed the field. It was fun.

That Oregon team didn't turn out to be very good, but this one probably deserves its No. 2 ranking. Oregon has turned into a perennial national title contender since the last time it lost to WSU. Meanwhile, the Cougs did their best to find the floor before becoming competitive again last season.

So, there is now a much larger divide between the schools for WSU to overcome. But for the first time in four years, Oregon has to come to Pullman. The crowd looks like it is going to be good, and it will be plenty sauced up by the time the 7:30 p.m. PT start rolls around. Couple it with the ESPN broadcast and there should be excitement as the game kicks off.

What will WSU do with that excitement? Most likely it will still lose, and lose by multiple scores. But it's nice to have the Ducks coming to Pullman again, instead of playing at the WSU house of horrors known as CenturyLink Field. Just being in Martin Stadium gives a shred of hope. And I know I need that for such a late game.

While most of me knows this will be a blowout, there's a tiny part of me holding out against logic that something special could happen. And wouldn't it be great to be in such awesome CougCenter company if it does?

Get that commentin' started. Go Cougs!
