Game thread + how to watch the Cougs vs. Ducks

The Oregon Ducks visit the Washington State Cougars on Saturday afternoon with both teams looking to grab a 2-0 start to the shortened 2020 campaign. Oregon snapped a four-game WSU win streak in the series last season, narrowly defeating the Cougars with a last-minute, game-winning field-goal drive in Eugene.

WSU head coach Nick Rolovich will be coaching his first game in Martin Stadium, but certainly not in the way he expected. Instead of students and season ticket holders, he will be greeted by a sea of cutouts. Still, he and his staff will be fired up to defend home turf.

The Cougs got Rolovich his first win in his first game last Saturday, and it featured the Run and Shoot with a bit of a wrinkle. Rolovich will need more wrinkles, and a stellar performance from freshman quarterback Jayden de Laura against an upgraded opponent.

Mario Cristobal’s squad has high hopes for this season, pegged as the Pac-12’s best chance at the College Football Playoff. The Ducks are somewhat in transition too, with sophomore QB Tyler Slough getting his second start.

Recently, the Cougs have over-performed expectations in this Pacific Northwest rivalry, and have covered many spreads while frequently defeating the Ducks. We’ll find out if Rolovich’s squad can maintain that magic against the Ducks.
