A story in pictures: WSU’s loss to Oregon

Despite a promising first half, the Washington State Cougars (1-1) fell to the No. 11 Oregon Ducks (2-0) Saturday night in Pullman by a score of 43-29.

True freshman defensive back Ayden Hector had a night to remember in his Martin Stadium debut, recording three turnovers (one interception, two fumble recoveries) in the first half against the Ducks, all on consecutive drives. The Cougar offense was clicking early, but struggled to convert on opportunities and had to twice settle for field goals in the second quarter.

Alas, this game was a tale of two halves, as Oregon outscored WSU 29-10 in the final 30 minutes. Losing is never easy, but the 2020 Cougars gave WSU fans plenty of reason for optimism for the near and distant future. Nick Rolovich’s squad will now face off against Stanford at the Farm next weekend, before returning to Pullman to host the 2020 Boeing Apple Cup against in-state rival Washington.
