Podcast Vs. Everyone: Previewing WSU vs. Stanford

Jayden de Laura is out, so what does that mean for the Cougars’ offensive attack?

The Washington State Cougars are traveling to California to face the Stanford Cardinal, and as you surely know by now, they’ll be doing it without their starting quarterback, Jayden de Laura, who has reportedly contracted COVID.

Here’s the thing, though — we found out about de Laura while we were recording on Thursday night, which meant that we were flying by the seats of our pants as we talked about what it meant. We made the dumb assumption that Cammon Cooper would be the next guy up, when in actuality it appears that Gunner Cruz will be the one taking over.

BUT! Our analysis was generally about how the offense might shift from de Laura to someone other than de Laura, and our thoughts about how they might use Cooper are basically the same when it comes to how they might use Cruz, since those two guys are pretty similar to each other. So maybe still give our silly little episode a chance?

We also talk about the challenges the defense will be facing in trying to stop the Cardinal, as well as offer up predictions.

Fair warning: We do use naughty words from time. You’ll probably hate it. We don’t care.
